NEW DELHI: Congress general secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra on Friday hit out at the government over inflation. She said that the common people are hit hard by the spiralling prices of essential commodities.

Priyanka, who arrived at the party headquarters to lead the protest, marched towards the Prime Minister’s residence and also jumped a barricade to evade arrest by the police.

After being stopped to march further, Priyanka sat in protest on Akbar Road before the police forcibly took her in a car.

After being detained by the police, Priyanka, in a video message, said, “The government feels that those who are in opposition and speak against it can be suppressed. And it feels that we will sit silently after coming under pressure and will compromise.”

“Their ministers said that they cannot feel inflation. Thus, we were marching towards the Prime Minister’s residence to show them inflation and also show them the LPG cylinders which the poor and middle-class people cannot buy,” the Congress leader said.

Targeting Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Priyanka said, “Modiji has given entire property of the country to his friends and no action is being taken against them. Two-three people became rich and their palaces have become bigger, but the people of the country are feeling deprived. Is this correct?”
