NEW DELHI: Cricket legend Virat Kohli returned to Wimbledon’s iconic Centre Court after nearly a decade, soaking in the electric atmosphere of the world’s most prestigious tennis tournament. Accompanied by wife and actress Anushka Sharma, Kohli reflected on his first visit in 2015, comparing the intensity of Wimbledon to cricket’s grandest stages.

“It’s amazing to be back,” Kohli said. “Anushka and I first came here in 2015, and it was truly special. We always wanted to return, and now that we have a bit of time, here we are again.”

Speaking to the broadcaster courtside, Kohli drew parallels between Centre Court at Wimbledon and Lord’s Cricket Ground, often called the “home of cricket.” But he admitted Wimbledon holds a different kind of pressure.

“There are amazing stadiums to play cricket in, and Lord’s is iconic. But Centre Court… it’s something else. The atmosphere is more intense—more intimidating even.”

KOHLI ON HIS RELATION WITH DJOKOVIC

When asked to name his favourites for the men’s championship, Virat Kohli didn’t hesitate.

“I’ve been in touch with Novak Djokovic for a while now—we’ve exchanged messages, and he’s always so kind and gracious. I’d love to see a Novak vs Carlos final. And I’d love for Novak to win—it would be incredible at this stage of his career.”

Kohli praised Djokovic not just as an athlete, but as a legend whose Grand Slam tally and consistency deserve top billing in the GOAT conversation.

“He’s right up there with the greatest of all time—if not the greatest.”

Turning to the women’s field, Kohli singled out world No. 1 Aryna Sabalenka as the player to beat.

“She’s aggressive, composed, and has the complete game. It won’t be easy to take her down.”

As always, Kohli’s presence added a touch of cricketing grace to the tennis world—an athlete admiring another arena of champions, yet radiating the same intensity and admiration he brings to his own.
