LUCKNOW: UP Police have registered an FIR against the unidentified Namazis after a video of them offering namaz at Lulu Mall in the city went viral on Twitter a few days ago.

The FIR was lodged at a local police station in Lucknow district after Sibtain Hussain, PR Manager of the mall, complained to the Police.

The UP police said that it was found that the mall management or any of the employees were not involved in the incident after the investigation was conducted. “There is a ban on offering prayers in public places,” UP Police said.

Interestingly, the mall was inaugurated by Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Sunday. It was developed by the Lulu Group, an Abu Dhabi-based company headed by Indian-origin billionaire Yussuf Ali MA.

Questions about how religious activities may be conducted at a mall are being addressed after the video went viral on social media. The prayer has been questioned by many Hindu organizations. The Akhil Bhartiya Hindu Mahasabha has warned that it will organize a protest by reciting the “Hanuman Chalisa” if namaz is offered at the mall again.

The group urged the Hindu community to boycott the mall in a statement it released at the time. The Hindu Mahasabha also claimed that Lulu Mall has previously been involved in similar disputes.
