SRINAGAR: Union Home Minister Amit Shah will chair a high-level security review on Jammu and Kashmir in the national capital on Tuesday. The meeting will assess the evolving security landscape, particularly in light of recent terror incidents.
The discussion will be attended by J&K Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha, Chief Secretary Atal Duloo, Director General of Police Nalin Prabhat, ADGP CID Nitish Kumar, IGP Jammu BS Tuti, along with senior officials from paramilitary forces and intelligence agencies.
This meeting follows the brutal killing of a former Territorial Army soldier by terrorists in Kulgam, South Kashmir. His wife and daughter also sustained gunshot wounds in the attack, heightening security concerns in the region.
A key focus of the review will be the security strategy for the coming months as rising temperatures lead to the melting of snow, and reopening infiltration routes along the Line of Control (LoC). Officials are also expected to deliberate on securing key tourist destinations ahead of the peak tourism season.
The meeting will further evaluate measures to dismantle terror networks in Jammu and Kashmir. Senior security officials will brief the Home Minister on efforts to maintain stability and prevent terrorist activities.
The last security review on Jammu and Kashmir, chaired by Amit Shah in December 2024, was the first since the recent assembly elections, which saw the National Conference (NC)-led government, under Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, take charge.
During the previous meeting, the Home Minister stressed the need for rigorous implementation of the ‘Area Domination Plan’ and ‘Zero Terror Plan.’ He directed all security forces operating in the region to continue their coordinated efforts to eradicate terrorism and ensure lasting peace in Jammu and Kashmir.
