MUMBAI: India will host the first-ever Global Media Dialogue (GMD) tomorrow in Mumbai as part of WAVES 2025, with participation from over 60 countries, including the UK, Japan, and Russia. Organized by the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting with support from the Ministry of External Affairs, the Dialogue marks a historic step in India’s growing engagement with the global media and entertainment industry.
Set to be the centerpiece of WAVES 2025, the Dialogue will feature ministerial and senior-level delegations from across Asia, Europe, Africa, and the Americas. Countries such as Egypt, Saudi Arabia, and Indonesia, along with international organizations like the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), will also be part of the event.
The high-level gathering aims to facilitate international cooperation, promote best practices, and explore shared strategies on policy alignment, talent exchange, and capacity building in the global media landscape. A key outcome will be the WAVES Declaration, reaffirming the shared commitment of participating countries to strengthen global collaboration in media and entertainment.
India will also conduct bilateral meetings with more than 10 countries, including Russia, UK, Bhutan, and Kenya, reflecting its commitment to deepening global partnerships.
The event will see the participation of senior Indian leaders including External Affairs Minister Dr. S Jaishankar, Information & Broadcasting Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw, and Minister of State Dr. L Murugan, signaling India’s resolve to champion an inclusive and forward-looking global media ecosystem.
The Dialogue is poised to become a vital platform for addressing the rapidly evolving role of media in shaping societies, economies, and international relations in the digital age.
