PATNA, BIHAR: Officials at the Immigration Office on the India-Nepal border have apprehended two Chinese nationals, Zhao Jing and Foon Kang, at Maitree Bridge in Raxaul, Bihar on Saturday night while attempting to enter the Indian side.

Hailing from Jiangxi province in China, both individuals were found to lack valid passports and visas required for entry into Indian territory. During the arrest, security agencies discovered two mobile phones and around 14 thousand Nepali rupees in their possession. The authorities are currently interrogating the suspects amid concerns that they may have been involved in activities related to the Indo-Nepal border areas.

Previous records reveal that both Chinese citizens attempted to enter Indian territory on July 2. However, upon discovering their lack of valid documentation, officials warned them and returned them to Nepal. Subsequently, they were found staying in Parsa, within the Virganj district bordering Nepal. Information about their hotel reservation in Virganj and their intended destination after crossing the border remains unknown.

The agency is conducting a thorough investigation into the call details of the seized mobile phones, which is expected to yield crucial information. It was also revealed that Zhao Jing had arrived in Kathmandu from China on June 30. Following extensive questioning, the suspects have been handed over to Haraiya OP.

Haraiya OP in-charge, Anuj Kumar, stated that the Chinese nationals are now in judicial custody, awaiting further action. It is noteworthy that a similar incident occurred in June of the previous year, when two Chinese nationals were caught in Sitamarhi.

According to reports from the police headquarters, a total of 35 foreign nationals from 11 different countries have been arrested this year for attempting to infiltrate through the Indo-Nepal international border in Bihar. Among the arrested individuals were citizens of Nepal, Sudan, Myanmar, Russia, the Czech Republic, Tibet, Uganda, Uzbekistan, Nigeria, Bangladesh, and the United States of America.

These arrests have been made in connection with charges of illegal entry from foreign borders, smuggling of gold, liquor prohibition violations, illegal currency possession, firearms possession, and concealment of stolen property.
