TOP EXCL: Had Said 1.5 Yrs Ago, ‘Khela Hoga’; It Happened Today, Says Tej Pratap

PATNA: “I had said one and a half years ago that khela hoga (the game will happen) and today it became reality,” Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leader Tej Pratap Yadav told The New Indian hours after Bihar Chief minister Nitish Kumar resigned and snapped ties with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).

Speaking to The New Indian, outside the residence of his mother and former Bihar chief minister Rabri Devi, Tej Pratap Yadav said, “We had promised to provide 10 lakh jobs to youths. Now it is time to fulfil those promises.”

“We were waiting for this day, I had said one and a half years ago that khela hoga and today this has happened,” he said.

To a question about the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) and the Enforcement Directorate (ED) registering new cases against his family, the RJD leader said, “They (central agencies) try to frame those who are innocent. But people know the truth.”

“Those who raise the voice of the people are suppressed, but they come forward with more power. And today it happened that we all came together. “

When asked about the oath ceremony of the new government on Wednesday evening, Tej Pratap Yadav said that it will become clear tomorrow.

When asked if he would keep any portfolio in the government, he replied, “What portfolio I keep will be revealed later. It doesn’t matter as of now.”

In the evening, even his brother Tejashwi Yadav lambasted the BJP and said, “The BJP only knows how to divide people into communal lines. Look at what it does to allies. It tries to finish them off. Look at Punjab. Look at Maharashtra. And that was the plan in Bihar too. It’s no secret.”

He said, “Across the Hindi heartland, the BJP does not have any alliance partners. History tells us that the BJP destroys the parties with whom it forms an alliance.”

Nitish Kumar, earlier in the day, held a meeting with the JD(U) leaders to discuss his next political moves. He then sought time from Governor Phagu Chauhan.

Around 4 pm, Kumar arrived at Raj Bhawan and met Chauhan and apprised him of his decision to quit as the state Chief Minister.

Even Nitish Kumar did not spare the BJP and said, “All MPs and MLAs are of a consensus that we should leave the NDA. Our MLAs unanimously wanted to exit that alliance.”

“Now, in the future, we’ll remain together,” the JD(U) leader said of their resurrected alliance with the RJD.

On opposition unity against the BJP across the country, he said, “Whatever we need to do in other states, we’ll do.”

Nitish Kumar also ignored the question about his Prime Ministerial ambitions.
