The Kerala Story makers to bring another spine-chilling truth to screen

NEW DELHI: After the success of their critically-acclaimed and commercially-successful film ‘The Kerala Story’, filmmaker Vipul Amrutlal Shah and director Sudipto Sen are teaming up once again for a new film titled ‘Bastar’.

The makers have released the poster for the film on social media, generating a buzz among fans. The poster features the title of the film in blood red against a peaceful landscape, which is a clear indication that the film will be a hard-hitting and eye-opening look at the realities of life in Bastar, a region in central India that has been plagued by violence and conflict for many years.

While no details about the plot of the film have been revealed yet, Shah has said that it will be “another shocking and eye-opener film that is said to be inspired by another true incident”. This suggests that ‘Bastar’ will be another hard-hitting and realistic film from Shah, who is known for his ability to tell stories that are both entertaining and thought-provoking.

Bastar is scheduled to be released on April 5, 2024.

In addition to the announcement poster, Shah and Sen also released a short teaser for the film, which gives a glimpse of the violence caused by Left wing extremism in Bastar, Chhattisgarh. The teaser also features a voiceover by actor Akshay Kumar, who says, “The truth of Bastar is coming to the screen.”

Vipul Amrutlal Shah has directed a number of successful films, including ‘Aankhen’, ‘Holiday’, ‘Force’, ‘Commando’, and ‘Waqt’. He is also the producer of the web series ‘Human’ whereas Sudipto Sen has worked on a number of films and television shows, including ‘The Kerala Story’ and ‘Sanak’. Sen is known for his ability to tell stories that are both entertaining and thought-provoking.

Bastar region, the central theme of the film, has seen Maoist insurgency since the 1980s, displacing thousands of people.
