Terrorist neutralised in Pulwama encounter

SRINAGAR: Security forces engaged in a fierce encounter with terrorists on Thursday in the Frasipora area of the Pulwama district. As a result, one terrorist was eliminated. The terrorist has been identified as Danish Ahmad Sheikh. He is the son of Ajaz Ahmad Sheikh and was residing at 90 Feet Road, Ellahibagh Soura, Srinagar.

Following the exchange of fire, security personnel recovered arms and ammunition from the operation site. This included a pistol, a live grenade, and a pouch. A senior police officer informed The New Indian that during the early hours of the morning, they received intel about the presence of terrorists in the area.

As the joint team of army and police searched towards the suspected spot, the hiding terrorists opened fire on the search party. This led to an encounter, the officer said.

Pulwama Police has filed a case under FIR No. 74/2024. The case has been filed under sections 16, 18, and 20 of the Unlawful Activities Prevention Act (ULAP), alongside sections 7/25 A and 307 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).
