The ongoing tussle between Delhi Chief minister Arvind Kejriwal and Assam Chief minister Himanta Biswa Sarma is getting spicier by the day.

Hours after Delhi CM invited Assam CM for a cup of tea at his residence in Delhi, the Guwahati strongman dismissed the invite. He also insisted that he will travel to Delhi to expose the underdeveloped areas and not Khan market and Lutyens Delhi.

“I will send 50 people from Assam, mostly journalists, and Kejriwal has to take them around Delhi. The only condition is that they have to be taken to the places we want to visit, not what he wants us to show,” Assam CM Sarma said while putting his condition.

“60 per cent of the people of Delhi live in hell. In contrast, 95 per cent of Assam lives in heaven,” he claimed.

Taking a dig at Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) national convenor, Assam CM Sarma termed Delhi CM Kejriwal a coward whose heroism is confined within the assembly.

“We treat our guests as God. But when Aurangzeb came to Assam, Lachit Barphukan did not provide him with any hospitality. Now, when you come to Assam to lie, why should we consider you guests? Still, I provided you with security, which you don’t do. I tweeted several times during COVID, but you did not reply,” CM Sarma said.

Sarma, who is known for his no-nonsense approach and his witty responses, said that the people of Assam don’t want to be aam aadmi (common men), they want to be khaas (special).

“Please leave us alone. We don’t need to be aam aadmi, we will remain khaas aadmi,” he quipped.

“Assam is following the path of development. We don’t need aam aadmi for that, we can remain khaas aadmi and do development. I will take forward 3.5 crore people who are khas aadmi,” he said.
