Swords Out In Congress After Party Announces RS Candidates

NEW DELHI: For all its deliberations at Chintan Shivir, the Congress is once again finding it hard to keep its flock happy. Hours after the Congress announced its candidates’ list for Rajya Sabha, the disgruntled elements in the party made no bones as they took to social media to express their disappointment.

Pawan Khera, who is the party’s face on most of the Indian news channels, expressed his disappointment with a Hindi tweet after the party released the list of 10 candidates for the upper house.

“Maybe there is something missing in my penance,” Khera tweeted in Hindi.

He was soon joined by fellow party leader Nagma Morarji.

In a reply to Khera’s tweet, Nagma wrote in Hindi, “Even our 18 years of penance fell short in front of Imran bhai.”

In another tweet, Nagma said, “Soniaji, our Congress president had personally committed to accommodating me in RS in 2003/04 when I joined Congress party on her behest. We weren’t in power then. Since then, it’s been 18 years they didn’t find an opportunity. Mr Imran is accommodated in RS from Maharashtra, I ask am I less deserving?”

However, both the leaders later congratulated all the party candidates fielded by the Congress for the Rajya Sabha.

Meanwhile, Khera and Nagma did not respond to messages for comments.
