NEW DELHI: The Indian Army has conducted the Swavlamban Shakti 2024 Exercise, a large-scale joint manoeuvre and live-fire exercise at the Babina Field Firing Range near Jhansi. This integrated exercise brings together armoured and mechanised infantry, artillery, air defence systems, and advanced aviation assets. It highlighted the growing synergy between the armed forces, national R&D organisations, and the domestic defence industry in advancing military capabilities.

The exercise focused on integrating Indigenous Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance (ISR) systems, including cutting-edge drones, satellite communication platforms, and real-time data processing technologies. Autonomous systems, advanced weapons, and smart ammunition will also be demonstrated to reflect the tactical and operational needs of modern warfare.

The exercise underlines India’s push towards self-reliance in defence technology with the participation of over 50 new technology equipment (NTEs) from more than 43 industry partners such as Tata Advanced Systems Ltd, Bharat Forge, the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO), and startups in the defence sector.

The highlight of Swavlamban Shakti 2024 is the coordinated deployment of armoured vehicles, specialist vehicles, and air assets in simulated combat scenarios. These drills demonstrated how new technologies are being integrated into the Indian Army’s warfighting strategy and operational art. The exercise concluded with a Static Equipment Display, providing a close-up view of the innovative defence platforms used during the manoeuvres.

This exercise plays a crucial role in enhancing the Army’s technology absorption efforts as it adapts to the evolving landscape of multi-domain warfare. The event is not just a testament to the Army’s preparedness but also a key step towards strengthening India’s indigenous defence capabilities.
