NEW DELHI: Aaj Tak’s consulting editor Sudhir Chaudhary was caught in the eye of storm on Sunday afternoon after he mysteriously appeared in the VIP stands of India versus Pakistan World Cup encounter in Ahmedabad, heaping praises about the “electrifying atmosphere”, within weeks of his shows and posts asking people to boycott Pakistan.

Chaudhary, whose unceremonious exit from the Zee Group had left several questions unanswered after he first announced to open his own digital media outlet but later reconciled with a consultant position at the India Today Group , was pilloried after thousands of Hindu followers questioned his double standards on preaching the boycott calls against Pakistan and asking ICC to not hold the match.

Taking to X to tweet several pictures of him at the stadium, Chaudhary forgot all about the tweets he had once made and the shows he had once helmed on TV.

However, in the comments section, several right-leaning X users wasted no time to train guns on him, labelling his previous calls for a boycott as sham and misleading propaganda.

Taking to X, Chaudhary had shared several pictures of him at the stadium, dressed in an expensive shirt and sporting aviators.

Nonetheless, his calls for a boycott failed to gain traction as he shared three tweets that  showed his arrival in shades in Ahmedabad, accompanied by the hashtag #IndvsPak.

Many on X called him a liar, traitor. One X user Amock (@Politics_2022) remarked, ” Dalal Aadmi. Tune to boycott karne ko bola tha match Pakistan ka. Another prominent right-wing Rajkumar Swami (@swamiraj636) said,” Look at this man carefully. He asks us to slam Pakistan but uses VIP facilities to reach Ahmedabad overnight and watch the match from the front row. There can’t be a bigger liar than this man. Please be careful in life in following liars and hypocrites like him”.

Another X user Akshit (@CaptainGzb) said,” Thi C***** was advocating for the boycott of this match and now standing in the stadium while one Abhinav Kumar Sahai, said,” When original Aajtak reporters are reporting in Israel, he is covering the extravaganza while daily asking us to boycott Pakistan”

His shows Gaming Jihad’ and the ‘Jihad Tracker’, his disdain for the Indian cricket team has never been a hidden stand.

Many X users also accused him of running hypocrisy through his shows and the real life only for the want of money and glamour .

Only in September, he had demanded the BCCI to stop playing cricket with Pakistan. Chaudhary had put forth a question, “How can we as a nation continue sharing a “bat and ball” relationship with them when their terrorists share a relationship of “picking up a gun” with our civilians?”

His demand for  boycott against Pakistan had gained momentum during the Anantnag encounter where three soldiers of the Indian Army and the Deputy Superintendent of the Jammu and Kashmir Police — Colonel Manpreet Singh, Commanding officer of the 19 Rashtriya Rifles, Major Ashish Dhonchak, and Humayun Bhatt —  had succumbed to fatal gun shots in the operation.

His double-faced demeanour had earlier caught him catching the ire of a minister at one of India Today’s conclaves recently.

Chaudhary, who was once lodged in Tihar Jail, over a case involving accusations and counter-accusations of Rs 100-crore demand from industrialist Naveen Jindal, was recently booked by Karnataka Police, for allegedly promoting hatred after he had mentioned that  Karnataka government scheme — offering subsidies to the members of minority communities to buy commercial vehicles — was restricted to Muslims and not extended to the majority community. The Karnataka High court has given him interim protection.
