Shocking! Woman killed after car drags her for 4 kms in Delhi, 5 arrested

A 20-year-old woman was killed after her scooty was hit by a car and she was dragged for several kilometers on Sunday in Delhi’s Kanjhawala area. All five accused who were in the car have been arrested, said police.

Among the five arrested are Deepak Khanna, 26, a driver in Gramin Sewa, Amit Khanna, 25,  Krishan, 27 works at Spanish Culture Centre, Mithun, 26, a hairdresser and Manoj Mittal, 27, a PDS dealer.

Delhi Police also said all the accused have been further interrogated. DCP (Outer) Harendra K Singh said the police are investigating the case from all possible angles.

“Woman was dragged for multiple kilometers after her scooter was hit by a Baleno Car in which all five persons were sitting. They told us that they did not hear the thud noise as they were listening to the song loudly in the car. Their claims are also being verified,” said a police officer.

Delhi Police also requested the doctors to make a medical board of three doctors to conduct the post mortem examination.

On January 1, Delhi Police received first PCR call at 3:24 am from Kanjhawala area in Rohini district where the caller informed “ek baleno gadi grey colour jo Qutub Garh ki side jaa rahi hai or usmei ek dead body bandhi hue hai jo niche latki hue hai”. (One body is hanging onto a grey colour Baleno that is going towards Qutub Garh.)

Police said the caller was constantly contacted over his mobile number by the team of Kanjhawala. The caller informed the police that he had noted the car’s registration number.

With one team of police trying to locate the car, another call was received at 4.11 am about the woman’s body lying on the road.

The woman identified as Anjali Singh was on her blue color scooty. Prima facie it appeared that soon after the hit, the accused tried to run away. But they dragged the woman over 4 kilometers and later ran away.

All accused were later arrested from their houses and the car was also recovered. The car owner told the police that one of the accused had borrowed the vehicle from him. However, police are also interrogating the owner of the vehicle.

Police said spot inspection as well as the physical remains on the spot reveal that after the accident, the victim got entangled in the wheels and was dragged for quite some distance. However, the investigation is still underway and all aspects of the matter are being taken into consideration.

A case under section 279, 304A, 304 and 34 of the IPC has been registered at Sultanpuri police station and further investigations are on.

The forensic experts have also been involved in examining the scene of crime, vehicles involved and collect all the relevant physical, biological and others evidences which will ensure successful prosecution, said police.
