NEW DELHI: Pakistani cricket sensation Shoaib Malik exchanged vows with popular Pakistani actor Sana Javed over the weekend, raising eyebrows and intensifying speculation surrounding his rumoured separation from former India tennis player Sania Mirza. Malik took to social media to offer fans a glimpse into their wedding ceremony, held on January 20.

Rumours regarding Malik’s alleged romance with Javed had been circulating, especially after the cricketer publicly extended birthday wishes to the Pakistani actor last year. The news of their nuptials came as a surprise, leaving fans bewildered, amid widespread speculations about Malik’s reported marital troubles on both sides of the border.
Sana Javed, who was previously married to singer Umar Jaswal from 2020 to 2023, also shared heartfelt moments from their wedding on her social media platforms. She also adjusted her Instagram bio to reflect her new name as Sana Shoaib Malik.
Speculation about Malik’s relationship status gained traction after tennis star Sania Mirza posted a cryptic message last Wednesday, alluding to the complexities of marriage and divorce. It read, “Marriage is hard. Divorce is hard. Choose your hard. Obesity is hard. Being fit is hard. Choose your hard. Being in debt is hard. Being financially disciplined is hard. Choose your hard. Communication is hard. Not communicating is hard. Choose your hard. Life will never be easy. It will always be hard. But we can choose our hard. Pick wisely.”
The couple, who tied the knot in 2010, had faced previous rounds of separation rumours, seemingly dispelling them through celebratory events and a joint TV show held last year.
However, whispers about the couple’s marital status rekindled when both Malik and Mirza made notable changes to their social media bios in late 2023. In August of last year, Malik modified his Instagram bio, and observers took note of the conspicuous absence of shared photos from their profiles, further fueling speculation about the state of their relationship. From ‘Husband to a superwoman Sania Mirza’, Shoaib changed his bio to ‘Father to One True Blessing’.
