NEW DELHI: As five states await Assembly Elections results to be announced on December 3, in Madhya Pradesh the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is all set to continue being in power according to the Axis My India exit polls, published on Thursday.

Although the Congress expected anti-incumbency to reign supreme, the survey depicted a landslide victory for the saffron party, attaining 51 per cent of the polled votes. On the other hand, the Congress is only slated to win 41 per cent of the votes. Earlier in the 2018 elections, the Grand Old Party had secured 40.89 per cent of votes while the BJP secured 41.02 per cent, with the former forming the government having won from more constituencies.

However, following Shivraj Singh Chouhan’s being in power for almost a continuous 17 years, the state’s Chief Minister has found intrinsic faith in the hearts of the people, with 37 per cent voters wanting a return. On the other hand, Congress’ Kamal Nath has not trailed behind by a lot, as 30 per cent voters would like to see him as the CM too.

Upon the release of the exit polls, Chouhan, while talking to press agencies, said that it was through his “Laadli Behenas”. Trends supporting his claims were also perceived with the total projected votes acquired by the BJP being formed of a whopping 50 per cent female voters while the Congress has accumulated 40 per cent.

Presently, the BJP is predicted to win about 152 seats, while Congress trails behind by over 70 seats, at 76.

Chouhan’s ability to bring about caste collectivism through the saffron party’s umbrella of Hindutva has also been well captured, as projected by the exit polls. The BJP is slated to gain their usual Brahmin and upper caste voter base, but is also slated to claim 56 per cent OBC, 43 per cent ST and 41 per cent SC community votes.
