New Delhi: Senior BJP leader Sunil Kukreja, who was associated with the party for over four decades, has joined the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP). Kukreja, a veteran campaigner, has held several key positions within the BJP, including Booth President, Mandal General Secretary, Mandal President, District General Secretary, and District Vice President.
Kukreja officially joined AAP in the presence of former Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia and AAP Mumbai President Preeti Sharma Menon. Soon after his induction, AAP Mumbai announced that he had been appointed as the Sanghatan Mantri (Mumbai).

Kukreja, who was formerly based in the Jangpura Assembly constituency, expressed disappointment over the BJP’s candidate selection process. He said, “I have given 42 years to the BJP, working apart from my family, and I have contributed a lot to the party.
However, when the Bharatiya Janata Party gave a ticket to someone who I can’t even call a worker, someone who didn’t even deserve it, it was very disappointing.”
Sources suggest that Kukreja had initially considered contesting the upcoming elections as an independent candidate but ultimately decided to align with AAP. His political experience spans across 17 states, where he played a crucial role in BJP’s campaigns.
AAP has welcomed Kukreja’s entry, presenting it as a significant boost to the party’s prospects ahead of the elections. His switch is being seen as a setback for the BJP, particularly in regions where he wielded influence.
With elections approaching, Kukreja’s move adds to the political churn, with AAP hoping his presence will strengthen its organizational network and voter outreach.
