Satyendra Jain hospitalized with spinal injury after fall in Tihar jail bathroom

NEW DELHI: Jailed former Delhi Minister Satyendra Jain has been admitted to Deen Dayal Upadhyay (DDU) Hospital in New Delhi. He fell in the bathroom of jail number 7 on Thursday morning and sustained injuries to his spinal cord. Currently, he is being kept under observation at the hospital.

According to Tihar Jail authorities, on Thursday at around 6 am, Jain slipped and fell in the bathroom of the MI Room in CJ-7. He had been under observation there for general weakness.

“After being examined by doctors, his vitals were found to be normal. However, he was subsequently referred to DDU Hospital as he complained of pain in his back, left leg, and shoulder,” stated the Tihar jail administration.

Just two days ago, Jain was taken to Safdarjung Hospital after complaining of uneasiness. A picture of him sitting weakly on a chair went viral, leading the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) to claim that Jain had lost 37 kilograms and had become significantly weakened.

AAP leaders held a press conference, blaming the BJP-led central government for incarcerating Jain and allegedly subjecting him to such conditions through the “misuse” of central agencies.

However, AAP sources claim that Satyendar Jain collapsed due to dizziness in the bathroom of Tihar Jail on Wednesday. They further mentioned that this was not the first time he had fallen in the bathroom, as he had previously experienced a serious spinal injury from a similar incident.

“This is the second time in the last week that Satyendar Jain has had to be admitted to the hospital,” revealed the party sources.
