NEW DELHI: Indian cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar is set to be honoured with the CK Nayudu Lifetime Achievement Award, the highest accolade given by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI). The award will be presented at the annual Naman Awards ceremony, scheduled for February 1 in Mumbai.

Tendulkar, widely regarded as one of the greatest cricketers of all time, played an illustrious career spanning 24 years. He represented India in 200 Test matches and 463 One Day Internationals (ODIs), setting numerous records along the way. The former cricketer is the leading run-scorer in both Test and ODI history and remains the only player to have scored 100 international centuries.

The CK Nayudu Lifetime Achievement Award was introduced by the BCCI in 1994 to honour legendary figures in Indian cricket. The first recipient was Lala Amarnath, and over the years, icons like Sunil Gavaskar, Kapil Dev, Mansoor Ali Khan Pataudi, and Dilip Vengsarkar have been recognized. Last year, the honour was given to Ravi Shastri and Farokh Engineer.

Tendulkar’s contribution to Indian cricket goes beyond statistics. He played a crucial role in India’s 2011 World Cup-winning campaign and was the recipient of the Bharat Ratna, India’s highest civilian award, in 2013. He remains the only sportsperson to have received this honour.

With this honour, the BCCI continues to celebrate Tendulkar’s unparalleled contribution to the sport, further solidifying his place among cricket’s all-time greats.
