RRR star Jr NTR expresses profound shock as he returns from earthquake-affected Japan

NEW DELHI: Indian actor Jr NTR, known for his role in ‘RRR’ recently returned from Japan and expressed deep concern for the country following a series of powerful earthquakes.

The quakes, striking the western region, resulted in at least fifty fatalities, and substantial damage to structures, vehicles, and boats, prompting officials to warn residents to stay away from their homes due to the risk of additional strong quakes. In a heartfelt post on X, Jr NTR shared his shock and sympathy for the affected people.

The actor wrote, “Back home today from Japan and deeply shocked by the earthquakes hitting. Spent the entire last week there, and my heart goes out to everyone affected. Grateful for the resilience of the people and hoping for a swift recovery. Stay strong, Japan.”

‘RRR’ , an action drama also starring Ram Charan, had made a significant impact in Japan, emerging as the highest-grossing Indian film in 2022, generating over 410 million yen (approximately Rs 24.13 crore) at the Japanese box office.

The earthquakes, with the largest registering a magnitude of 7.6, triggered a fire and building collapse on the west coast of Japan’s main island, Honshu.

The country initially issued a highest-level tsunami alert, which was later dropped. Aftershocks continued in Ishikawa prefecture and nearby areas following the initial temblor.

Wajima city confirmed eight casualties, with seven others sustaining serious injuries. The extent of damage to homes was so severe that an immediate assessment was challenging.
