RCB Becomes First IPL Team to Hit 20 Million Instagram Followers

Summary

Royal Challengers Bengaluru become the first IPL franchise to reach 20 million Instagram followers ahead of their crucial IPL 2025 clash against Lucknow Super Giants.

NEW DELHI: Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) have etched their name in the history books yet again — this time off the field — by becoming the first Indian Premier League (IPL) franchise to cross the 20-million-follower mark on Instagram. The social media milestone comes on the eve of their final league stage match of IPL 2025 against Lucknow Super Giants (LSG), scheduled for Tuesday, May 27, at the Ekana Stadium in Lucknow.

RCB celebrated the achievement with a heartfelt post and video on Instagram, thanking their fans — the “12th Man Army” — for their unwavering support.

“They call it followers. We call it family. 12th Man Army, this milestone belongs to you! Here’s to loyalty, love, and playing bold together. #PlayBold #RCB,” the caption read.

Strong Season, Stronger Following

This landmark reflects not just RCB’s massive popularity but also the loyalty of its fanbase, which has continued to grow despite the franchise not yet winning an IPL title. The 2025 season, however, may just change that narrative.

Led by Rajat Patidar, RCB have had a stellar campaign so far — securing eight wins from 13 games and accumulating 17 points. They have already sealed a place in the playoffs and currently sit third on the points table.

Aiming for Top-Two Finish

RCB’s final league game against LSG carries significant weight. A win will propel them to 19 points and ensure a top-two finish, giving them two shots at reaching the final — a crucial advantage in the IPL playoff format.

While Gujarat Titans (GT) have wrapped up their league stage with 18 points, both Punjab Kings (PBKS) and Mumbai Indians (MI), with 17 and 16 points respectively, are also in contention for a top-four finish. This makes the RCB-LSG fixture a must-win for Bengaluru if they want to avoid the eliminator route.

Having lost their previous match against SunRisers Hyderabad (SRH), the team will be keen to regain momentum heading into the playoffs and continue their quest for a maiden IPL trophy.

Whether it’s their on-field resurgence or off-field fanfare, RCB are proving to be a force to reckon with in IPL 2025. With 20 million fans backing them on Instagram and a possible top-two finish within reach, the stage is set for an electrifying finish to the league stage and a bold run in the playoffs.
