JAIPUR: Officials of the Ajmer Vidyut Vitran Nigam Ltd consumed alcohol and indulged in vulgar dance with bar girls at a birthday-cum-retirement party of their colleague in Rajasthan’s Pushkar, a viral video shows.

As per sources, the party was organised to celebrate the retirement of superintendent engineer BS Shekhawat at a resort in Pushkar on June 18. Many senior and junior officials including engineers of the electricity distribution company as well as some of his relatives participated in the party.

A video of the party shows the employees in an inebriated state dancing with bar girls on Bollywood item numbers and making vulgar gestures.

After the video went viral on social media, senior Nigam officials constituted an inquiry committee and suspended superintendent engineer BS Soni, who can be seen in the video.

Many netizens have raised questions about the code of conduct of the Nigam and demanded the Ashok Gehlot government take strict action against the errant officials.

Speaking to The New Indian, Ajmer Vidyut Vitran Nigam Ltd managing director NS Nirwan said, “We saw the video and immediately suspended superintendent engineer BS Soni who is in service.”

“Superintendent engineer BS Shekhawat was part of the vigilance wing, hence all the vigilance officials were invited to the party. An inquiry committee has been set up in which we have included officials of Jaipur Vidyut Nigam Limited as well to ensure a fair probe,” he further said.

Underlining that the indecent acts have maligned the image of the Nigam, Nirwan said that action will be taken against the officials who are found guilty in the investigation.

Many assistant engineers, junior engineers, and executive engineers along with other employees can be seen dancing, drinking, and doing vulgar acts with the bar girls in the viral video.

However, many officials, who were invited to the party, did not show up as they got hints about the nature of the celebrations, the sources cited above stated.
