Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot on Monday held an important meeting at his official residence regarding the security arrangements for the pedestrians coming to participate in the Ramdevra Mela.

He said that for pedestrians coming to the Mela, possible corridors should be made and their cradle ensured. “In the districts pedestrians are passing through, the District Collector should ensure all arrangements by holding regular meetings with the higher officials.”

The CM said that the administration should be fully alert so that there is no inconvenience to the devotees. In the districts with high traffic, action should be taken against those who drive under the influence of alcohol and indulge in speeding. A special drive by the administration should be undertaken, he pointed out.

For this, mobile units and nakas should be established as per requirement. He said that more and more radium tapes and ribbons should be distributed to pedestrians, which can be affixed on the bags or worn in their hands to avoid accidents while walking at night.

Gehlot said that to check speeding, temporary speed breakers should be made on the roads and speed-limit sign boards should also be installed where necessary. He said that precautions should be publicized by the administration on loudspeakers for the devotees to travel safely on foot, through aid camps at short distances.

The officials should ensure that the pedestrian camps are set up at a sufficient distance from the roadside, the CM underlined. He also directed the officers to keep a vigil on overloaded vehicles on the pedestrian routes.

The CM said that the administration has made excellent management of Kavad Yatras recently, due to which these were conducted without any untoward incident.
