NEW DELHI: Punjab is all set to transform into North India’s tourism and hospitality hub, as the state government rolls out six mega tourism projects under the Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model. The initiative aims to boost tourism, create jobs, and strengthen the state’s economy through a transparent and investor-friendly roadmap.
Under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, the Punjab Infrastructure Development Board (PIDB) hosted a landmark investor conference in Chandigarh, bringing together top developers, consultants, and investors from across India. The conference served as a platform to present the government’s vision of combining Punjab’s rich cultural legacy with modern infrastructure to build a “New Punjab.”
Six Iconic Projects to Redefine Punjab’s Tourism Landscape
The government unveiled six ambitious projects to promote cultural, religious, and business tourism across the state.
Among the key highlights is the Urban Ropeway Project in Amritsar, designed to enhance mobility around the city’s sacred and historical corridors while offering tourists a breathtaking aerial view. Similarly, heritage treasures like Aam Khas Bagh in Sirhind and Darbar Hall in Kapurthala will be restored and transformed into luxury heritage hotels, blending royal elegance with modern comfort.
To diversify tourism experiences, a Pinkasia Tourist Complex will be developed at Aam Khas Bagh in Ropar, offering recreation and hospitality facilities. For the promotion of business tourism, Convention and Exhibition Centres will be established in Mohali and Ludhiana, positioning Punjab as a premier business and conference destination in North India.
Transparent and Investor-Friendly Approach
The meeting focused on ensuring that all upcoming projects are attractive and accessible for investors. Senior officials from the PIDB, Tourism and Cultural Affairs Department, and Housing and Urban Development Department engaged in detailed consultations on project feasibility, legal clearances, and timelines.
Investors were assured that all projects would follow a competitive bidding process and transparent revenue-sharing model. The state government emphasized its commitment to building investor confidence by maintaining transparency at every stage and incorporating investor feedback into project planning.
Driving Sustainable Development and Economic Growth
Officials highlighted that these PPP-based initiatives are designed not only to enhance tourism infrastructure but also to ensure sustainable and inclusive growth. The projects aim to provide better facilities for tourists, create employment for locals, and revitalize Punjab’s cultural and historical sites.
Punjab’s Roadmap for the Future
Reaffirming its pro-investment stance, the Mann government stated that Punjab’s tourism expansion plan represents a long-term commitment to transparency, innovation, and inclusive development. By partnering with private players, the government envisions transforming Punjab into a world-class tourism destination that celebrates its glorious heritage while creating modern opportunities for growth.
With these six mega projects taking shape, Punjab is now poised to become the tourism king of North India, setting an example of how tradition and modernity can go hand in hand to build a prosperous future.
