NEW DELHI: The recent floods triggered by heavy rains have ravaged large parts of Punjab, submerging thousands of acres of farmland and leaving many families homeless. Amid this crisis, Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann’s government has stepped forward with strong measures to support victims, ensuring both immediate relief and long-term rehabilitation.

Cabinet ministers and district administrations are working in coordination to provide essential supplies, medical aid, and livelihood support. The government is not only helping families restart their homes but is also focusing on restoring their means of income.

Following the Chief Minister’s directions, Cabinet Minister Lal Chand Kataruchakk visited flood-hit Kohliyan Adda village in the Bhóa constituency. He extended special assistance to two cobbler families who had lost everything to the fury of the Ravi River. One family received financial aid, while the other was provided with essential shoemaking tools and new pairs of shoes to resume their work. This targeted support aims to restore their livelihood and stabilize their financial situation.

Beyond these families, relief efforts have expanded widely. More than 400 beds, mattresses, mosquito nets, gas cylinders, and other supplies have already been distributed in affected villages of the constituency. Kataruchakk assured villagers that no family will be left behind and reiterated the government’s commitment to stand by every victim until full rehabilitation is achieved.

The Mann government’s approach goes beyond temporary relief—it is instilling hope and confidence among families struggling to rebuild their lives. By securing livelihoods and providing essential resources, the state aims to protect the future of children and ensure communities can recover sustainably.

The Aam Aadmi Party government has vowed to continue working for housing, employment, and rehabilitation of all flood victims. Officials describe this effort not as a relief package, but as a partnership with the people.

Once again, the Punjab Government has demonstrated that governance is not about rhetoric but about compassion and accountability. In times of crisis, it is standing firmly with the people of Punjab—like a rock, unshaken, and committed to rebuilding lives.
