NEW DELHI: Prime Minister Narendra Modi had a fruitful meeting with Leena Nair, the global CEO of fashion brand Chanel, during his visit to Paris.

They discussed ways to enhance skill development among artisans and promote Khadi.

Prime Minister Modi expressed his delight in meeting an Indian-origin individual who has excelled on the global stage.

“Met the Global CEO of @CHANEL, Mrs Leena Nair. It’s always a delight to meet a person of Indian origin who has made a mark on the world stage. We had a great conversation about ways to further boost skill development among artisans and to make Khadi more popular,” PM Modi tweeted.

Nair shared her experience of meeting the Prime Minister, highlighting his enthusiasm to support women and girls in business. She praised his passion and commitment, noting his keen interest in making India an investment hub for everyone.

“PM was very keen to support other women and girls in the business. You could see his passion and commitment. Prime Minister is really interested in ensuring that India is an investment hub for everyone,” Nair said.

During his two-day visit to France, PM Modi engaged with various leaders, including French aerospace engineer Thomas Pesquet and renowned yoga practitioner Charlotte Chopin.

He also attended the Bastille Day Parade as the guest of honour, where the Indian Air Force’s Rafale fighter jets and tri-services marching contingents showcased their prowess.

At the parade, Prime Minister Modi saluted the Indian contingent while seated alongside French President Emmanuel Macron and other dignitaries.

Macron took the opportunity to explain the intricacies of the traditional parade to Modi, demonstrating their camaraderie.

“India, inspired by its centuries-old ethos, is committed to doing everything possible to make our planet peaceful, prosperous and sustainable. 1.4 billion Indians will always be grateful to France for being a strong and trusted partner. May the bond deepen even further!” the prime minister tweeted.

In a tweet, Prime Minister Modi expressed India’s commitment to promoting peace, prosperity, and sustainability based on its rich cultural heritage. He extended gratitude to France for being a strong and trusted partner, emphasising the desire to deepen the bond between the two nations.

The Bastille Day Parade holds significant importance as it commemorates the storming of the Bastille prison during the French Revolution in 1789. It serves as a symbol of unity, national pride, and the French spirit.

Prime Minister Modi’s visit to France reflects the growing bilateral ties between India and France, encompassing various sectors, including business, aerospace, yoga, and cultural exchange. The meetings and engagements during this visit reinforce the commitment to further strengthening cooperation and collaboration between the two nations.
