The National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Tuesday carried out searches at three locations in Patna in connection with a case related to a terror module ‘Ghazwa-e-Hind’ run by an individual name Margub Ahmad Danish alias Tahir. In popular parlance, the phrase Ghazwa-e-Hind is understood to mean the conquest of the Indian sub-continent by an “Islamic army”.

In a statement, the NIA said the accused Margub Ahmad Danish, a.k.a ‘Tahir’, a resident of Phulwari Sharif in Patna district was arrested for aiding the online radicalisation of gullible youth. “The arrested accused was involved in anti-national activities and radicalisation of impressionable youth over the social media. The case was initially registered on 14th July, 2022 at PS Phulwarisharif, and re-registered by NIA on 22nd July,” said the statement.

“Investigations have revealed that the accused Margub Ahmad Danish was a self-radicalised individual and was in contact with a number of foreign entities on the WhatsApp group, Ghazwa-e-Hind created by him. In this group, terrorist acts and activities in Kashmir were being glorified with the aim of radicalising impressionable youth. He had also created another WhatsApp group in the name of Ghazwa-e-Hind and was propagating conquest of India through violence,” the statement read.

The investigating agency seized incriminating materials, including digital devices and documents during the search. NIA also conducted at over 50 locations in Punjab, Haryana, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh and Delhi-NCR in order to target the nexus between terrorists, gangsters and drug traffickers.
