Parliament sartorial watch: Kharge’s Louis Vuitton vs PM Modi’s recycled plastic jacket

Kharge or PM Modi – Who wore his politics better?

While uproar in the Parliament continued over the Adani-Hindenburg report, the unique sartorial choices made by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Leader of Opposition and Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge caught everyone’s attention.

Kharge chose to attack capitalism and Adani in the Upper House in a Louis Vuitton muffler. The New Indian confirmed with a Louis Vuitton store in the national capital that the starting range for a LV muffler is anywhere between Rs. 50,000 – 55,000 and goes further up to over Rs 60,000.

In stark contrast, the Prime Minister donned a powder blue jacket made out of recycled plastic. The PM has on many occasions spoken about his concerns about the environment and the importance of “recycle and reuse”

Karnataka Minister of Large and Medium-scale Industries Dr Murugesh R Nirani tweeted the details of how the jacket was made. “Once again PM @narendramodi Ji is leading by example. The jacket that PM is wearing has been made with recycled PET bottles & gifted by #Karnataka at the #IndiaEnergyWeek in Bengaluru. An amazing way to promote climate consciousness & a big message to the world on Climate change.”

Meanwhile, the Prime Minister will address the Lok Sabha at 3:30 pm on the Motion of Thanks on the President’s Address.

The Parliament witnessed a logjam over the Adani-Hindenburg issue as opposition demanded a joint parliamentary committee (JPC) to probe the allegations levelled by the US-based short seller firm Hindenburg Research on Adani Group.

Rajya Sabha suspended the Zero Hour as well as the Question Hour to resume debate on Motion of Thanks. Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), Shiv Sena Thackeray faction, and Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) staged a walkout from the Rajya Sabha after Vice President and Rajya Sabha chairman Jagdeep Dhankhar rejected adjournment notices by BRS member K Keshava Rao, AAP member Sanjay Singh, and Shiv Sena members Sanjay Raut and Priyanka Chaturvedi.
