NEW DELHI: A Pakistani YouTuber, Saad Ahmed was shot dead in Karachi by a security guard during a vlog shoot for the T20 World Cup 2024 match between India and Pakistan. Saad, known for his vlogs covering various events, attempted to interview the guard as part of his coverage but faced resistance.

The incident occurred in Karachi’s mobile market when Saad approached the guard for an interview. Despite the guard’s reluctance to be filmed, Saad persisted, leading to a confrontation. The guard, in a fit of rage, pulled out his weapon and fatally shot Saad. Despite efforts to save him, Saad was pronounced dead upon arrival at the hospital.

Saad’s friend, speaking to the media, revealed that Saad was the sole provider for his family. The tragic incident highlights the risks faced by content creators in pursuit of their work.

“He kept on bringing the mic close to my face and filming. I lost my temper and fired at him,” the guard was quoted as saying in the Instagram post.

As the neighbouring nation mourns the loss of Saad Ahmed, the incident serves as a sobering reminder of the consequences of unchecked emotions. Social media platforms in Pakistan have been flooded with condolences, with many expressing shock and sadness over the untimely demise of the young Karachi YouTuber.
