Oman FM To Start 2-Day Indian Visit Today, To Review Strategic Partnership With EAM

NEW DELHI: Oman Foreign Minister Sayyid Badr Hamad Hamood Al Busaidi will arrive in New Delhi on Wednesday on his maiden two-day visit to India. He will meet External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar during the visit.

Busaidi will undertake a comprehensive review of the progress made in the bilateral strategic partnership between the two countries during his meeting with his Indian counterpart on March 23, as per the External Affairs Ministry (MEA).

Both the ministers will also exchange views on “recent regional and international developments”, it said.

The Omani minister is expected to call on National Security Advisor (NSA) Ajit Doval.

Sandwiched between Arabian Peninsula and the Persian Gulf, the West Asian state is a strategic partner of India. The bilateral trade between India and Oman crossed $7.5 billion in Financial Year 2021-22. More than 6.2 lakhs Indians reside in Oman, according to the MEA.

In December 2019, External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar visited Oman and interacted with the Indian community living there.
