A day after Aam Aadmi Party termed its jailed Minister Satyendar Jain’s massage video as physiotherapy session, the Physiotherapy Association has condemned the party’s defence as insult to the professionals.
In his official statement, Dr Sanjiv K Jha PT, President of Indian Association of Physiotherapist (IAP) said, “We are getting complaints from our members and various physiotherapists across the country against the video. It has been said that physiotherapy session was given to the said minister in the video.  But it was not a physiotherapy session. It a a way of degrading our profession.”
Condemning AAP’s response he said, ” We strongly condemned this act and demand minister or whoever the patient  should apologise for it.”
He requested all physiotherapists to refrain from validating AAP’s claims. “It is a proper way of diagnostics, treatment and healing patients. Let’s condemn the act and move in the direction where we can correct the things,” Jha added.
Deputy chief minister Manish Sisodia on Saturday said that the BJP (Bhartiya Janata Party) was mocking the disease of Jain by sharing his physiotherapy session video on social media. He said it was recommended by doctor as Jain fell and got hurt in his spine during his prison.
“Jain has been in prison for the past six months. I am putting this on record in front of everyone that during his time in prison, he fell and his spine got injured. His L5-S1 vertebrae or L5-S1 disk got damaged. As per his medical records, his nerves got pinched and he was hospitalised. He underwent two surgeries through which nerve blocks were implanted. While discharging him from the hospital, doctors recommended that he need regular physiotherapy. When he was receiving physiotherapy, these people took a video of it and now they are making fun of him. Don’t you feel ashamed?,” Sisodia remarked.
Earlier, AAP leader Satyendar Jain had been denied bail by a Delhi court on Thursday in a money laundering case, saying he was “prima facie” involved in concealing the “proceeds of crime”.

Meanwhile, a Tihar jail superintendent had been suspended for alleged involvement in providing special treatment to AAP minister Satyendar Jain who has been lodged in prison in a money laundering case.

On July 30 this year, the court had taken cognizance of the ED charge sheet against Jain, his wife and eight others, including four firms in connection with the hawala transactions.

Along with minister Jain, his wife Poonam, Vaibhav Jain, Ankush Jain, Ajit Prasad Jain and Sunil Jain including four private firms are named as accused under the money laundering act.

It had filed a prosecution complaint (charge sheet) naming the Delhi minister and others.
