NEW DELHI: India’s National Investigation Agency (NIA) has released pictures of 10 suspects wanted for the attack on the Indian Consulate in San Francisco in March 2023.

The NIA has appealed to the public for information on the whereabouts of the suspects. Three separate “Request for Identification & Information” notices have been issued, with two notices carrying photographs of two suspects each and the third notice carrying pictures of the other six.

On the nights of March 18 and 19, 2023, Khalistani activists trespassed into the consulate building and vandalized it. They also assaulted and injured consulate officials.

According to the NIA notices, some of the suspects were also seen trying to burn down the consulate office with officials still inside.

The NIA has registered a case against the suspects under various sections of the Indian Penal Code, including rioting, criminal conspiracy, and mischief by fire. The suspects have also been charged under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act and the Prevention of Damage to Public Property Act.

The NIA has released a list of email IDs and phone numbers for people to share any information they have about the suspects. The agency has promised to keep the identity of informants confidential.

An NIA team visited San Francisco in August to investigate the case.
