MUMBAII: Actor Nawazuddin Siddiqui shared a hilarious memory from the sets of Vidya Balan-starrer Kahaani, revealing how an unexpected encounter with a local woman turned into one of his funniest filming experiences.

Speaking to journalist Rohan Dua, Nawaz recounted shooting during Durga Puja in Kolkata, where the crew was blending into the real crowd to capture authentic scenes.

“Half of the crew were our own people, and the rest was a real crowd. We had to search for Vidya Bagchi in the middle of them.

While running, I suddenly bumped into a woman. She abused me in Bengali,” Nawaz recalled with a laugh.

He admitted he didn’t understand the language and initially mistook the abuse for something pleasant.

“Her abuses were so sweet, I thought she was saying something nice,” he joked.

The actor revealed that the hidden camera setup made locals unaware that a film was being shot. What followed was an unscripted slap that Nawaz now fondly remembers as his funniest memory from the movie.

Released in 2012, Kahaani earned critical acclaim for its gripping plot and Vidya Balan’s performance, with Nawaz’s character adding intensity to the storyline. But for Nawazuddin, the unplanned slap remains the most unforgettable moment.
