New Delhi: Kurukshetra MP Shri Naveen Jindal today urged the central government to establish a Food Testing Laboratory in Kurukshetra under the “One District, One Lab” scheme, emphasizing its necessity for public health and consumer protection.
Raising the issue during Question Hour in the Lok Sabha, Jindal stated,
“Kurukshetra is a major agricultural and urban district, making it an ideal location for a food testing facility. Ensuring food safety is crucial for a healthier India.”
This demand follows Jindal’s earlier push for stricter food labeling norms and regulation of ultra-refined seed oils. Union Food and Consumer Affairs Minister Shri Chirag Paswan responded positively, assuring that the proposal would be considered.
Jindal welcomed the response, saying, “I appreciate the minister’s assurance. A lab in Kurukshetra will benefit lakhs of people and strengthen our food safety mechanisms.”
The move is expected to enhance food quality monitoring in the region, aligning with national health objectives.
