NEW DELHI: The 71st National Film Awards 2023 celebrated the finest achievements in Indian cinema, recognising excellence in storytelling, music, choreography, and technical brilliance across multiple languages.
Regional Cinema: Marathi & Hindi Films Take Top Honours
In the regional category, the Best Marathi Film award went to Shyamchi Aai, a heartfelt adaptation produced by Amruta Films and directed by Sujay Sunil Dahake.
In the Hindi category, Best Hindi Film was conferred on Kathal: A Jackfruit Mystery, a satirical comedy produced by Netflix Entertainment Services Pvt Ltd, Balaji Telefilms Ltd, and Sikhya Entertainment Pvt Ltd, and directed by Yashowardhan Mishra.
Musical Achievements Recognised
The music segment saw vibrant recognition of talent across languages:
- Best Music (Songs): Vaathi (Tamil) – G.V. Prakash Kumar
- Best Background Music: Animal (Hindi) – Harshavardhan Rameshwar
- Best Lyrics: Balagam (Telugu) – Kasarla Shyam
- Best Choreography: Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani – Vaibhavi Merchant
Technical Brilliance: Sound Design Excellence
In the technical categories, Best Sound Design went to Animal (Hindi), with sound designers Sachin Sudhakaran and Hariharan Muralidharan being honoured for their exceptional audio craftsmanship.
