NEW DELHI: Minister of State for Defence Sanjay Seth visited the Defence Materials and Stores Research & Development Establishment (DMSRDE), a key DRDO laboratory based in Kanpur, on June 29. During his visit, he lauded the DRDO fraternity for the successful deployment of indigenous technologies during Operation Sindoor.

Seth praised DMSRDE’s critical contributions in advancing defence systems and highlighted key innovations including the Level-6 Bullet Proof Jacket, Naphthyl Fuel for BrahMos missile, high-pressure polymeric membranes for Indian Coast Guard ships, Silicon Carbide Fibre, and Activated Carbon Fabric-based CBRN (Chemical, Biological, Radiological, and Nuclear) suits. He also noted the lab’s role in developing various stealth technologies.

Commending the lab’s performance, he acknowledged DMSRDE’s record number of technology transfers over the past two years among all DRDO labs, and its growing collaboration with industry and academia. He emphasized that such efforts align with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of a “Viksit Bharat” by 2047.

The Minister visited an exhibition showcasing cutting-edge materials and products developed by DMSRDE in areas such as ceramics, stealth and camouflage, nanomaterials, polymers, lubricants, technical textiles, and personal protection systems. He was welcomed by Dr. RV Hara Prasad, DS & DG (Naval Systems & Materials).

A presentation was also made by the lab’s Director, outlining DMSRDE’s mission, ongoing projects, and focus areas. Sanjay Seth concluded his visit by paying tribute to Dr APJ Abdul Kalam at his statue on the premises and participating in a tree plantation ceremony.
