NEW DELHI: Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) Karnataka unit took to their official microblogging site, X, to share a picture announcing the consecration ceremony of Ram Mandir in Ayodhya, on Sunday.
However, the picture featuring Lord Ram and Prime Minister Narendra Modi came under a scathing attack, which was followed by them deleting the post.
The image shows PM Modi in a more ‘larger than life’ perspective than Lord Ram which has hurt Hindu sentiments. Following this the Grand Old Party slammed the PM and the BJP of “dwarfing Lord Ram in front of PM Modi”.
The picture featuring Lord Ram and Prime Minister Narendra Modi came under a scathing attack, which was followed by them deleting the post.
Congress party’s official handle on X stated, “BJP has insulted Sri Rama more than Kaikeyi by taking away the dignity of Purushottama. By dwarfing Sri Ram in front of Modi, the BJP has hurt the sentiments of crores of devotees. Depicting Modi as a mentor to Sri Ram, BJP is asserting that worship of a person is superior to worship of God. Today @BJP4Karnataka is sure to be killed by Rama who killed Ravana that day!”

In the meantime, PM Modi is slated to hold a roadshow to address a public meeting after inaugurating the airport at Ayodhya on December 30.

According to an official, the roadshow will cover a distance of about 15 km between the airport and the railway station. The rally is slated to pass through Dharam Path, Lata Mangeshkar Chowk, Ram Path, Tedhi Bazaar and Mohabra intersection.

He is also slated to inaugurate the new railway station in the temple city.

The public sentiments are catching heat as netizens were quick to notice the picture, which is now deleted. They were quick to react to the post.

One X user said, “When @narendramodi ji came to know that someone had built a temple for Modi ji, Modi ji became very angry. Rajnath Singh had to come to the media and say this. Now Lord Ram is shown small and Modi ji is shown big. Now Modi ji will not be angry and is also silent now.”

Another user said that the BJP is commercialising Lord Ram to seek votes. He said, “Sri Ramachandra Prabhu is omnipresent. He resides in the heart of every devotee. These people are commercialising it to ask for votes from weak devotees. They fail at that.” Some users called the poster that broke out before the consecration ceremony of Ram Mandir temple ‘shameful’.

Some others also defended PM Modi and slammed the Grand Old Party for doing politics over it, while their historical stance has been against the construction of Ram Mandir. One X user said “People are not stupid if they just post something. Ask Kapil Sibal who argued that there should be no Ram Mandir and is still sidelined. People know who betrayed the faith of the majority of Muslims.”

Another said, “Who insulted Rama by appointing a lawyer against the Ram Mandir in the Supreme Court saying that Rama is a fiction, is saying this?”

The Ram Mandir is slated to be inaugurated on January 22.
