NEW DELHI: Odissi dancer and Padma Vibhushan Awardee, Sonal Mansingh, presented ‘Karmayogi,’ a unique concept depicting PM Modi’s flagship schemes through classical dance and choreography, on Friday at Delhi’s India Habitat Centre. It was a dance tribute to PM Modi for his policies which have brought changes and development in the social, economic, and cultural landscapes.

Mansingh, also appointed as the brand ambassador of Swachh Bharat Abhiyan, showcased her artistic rendition in the presence of former President Ram Nath Kovind, who graced the occasion as the chief guest. Speaking exclusively to The New Indian, she underscored the importance of acknowledging PM Modi’s contributions to the nation and expressed her admiration for his dedication and vision.

“PM Modi and his work deserve recognition. This performance is my tribute to his unwavering commitment and impactful initiatives,” she remarked, emphasising her intention to honour his efforts through her artistry.

Reflecting on the concept behind ‘Karmayogi’ and the challenges encountered during its creation, Mansingh revealed, “While I couldn’t encompass all of his schemes, my aim was to promote art and music, as these forms resonate deeply and endure over time.”

Describing PM Modi as possessing a Yogic persona, Mansingh praised his selfless dedication to serving the nation, lamenting the lack of acknowledgment for his contributions. “Modi is a yogi; his actions are dedicated to the people of this country, not himself. However, many fail to recognise his efforts,” she said.

The performance showcased various government initiatives, including the construction of the Ram temple, Kashi Vishwanath temple, and the principle of Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam, symbolising India’s role in the global community, represented by the G20.

Former President Ram Nath Kovind lauded the dancers for their exceptional portrayal of these initiatives, emphasising the profound impact of art in conveying powerful messages. “Art is a timeless expression of human creativity. The dance performance depicting Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam is a testament to the beauty and universality of Indian culture,” Kovind stated.

Furthermore, Kovind applauded the government’s accomplishments over the past decade, highlighting initiatives like the Unified Payments Interface (UPI), which has revolutionised digital transactions in India and garnered international recognition.

“UPI has emerged as a digital revolution, with several countries, including Russia, Nepal, and recently the UAE, adopting this innovative platform,” Kovind concluded, acknowledging the government’s strides towards fostering technological advancements and global partnerships.
