NEW DELHI: The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) of India has taken proactive steps amidst the escalating crisis in Haiti, setting up a 24-hour control room and emergency helpline to assist Indian nationals affected by the turmoil in the Caribbean nation. In response to the deteriorating law and order situation in Haiti, where criminal street gangs have seized control, MEA spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal assured that the Indian embassy is closely monitoring the situation and remains in contact with the Indian community in the region. “The Embassy is in touch with the Indian community. They are monitoring the situation. As you know there is a crisis in Haiti, and if required, we will evacuate… We are ready to evacuate,” Jaiswal stated.
