New Delhi: In a major boost to Punjab’s economy and employment landscape, Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann’s government has secured a landmark investment from multinational IT giant Infosys Limited. The company will invest nearly ₹300 crore to expand its operations in Mohali, creating 2,500 direct jobs and 210 indirect jobs for Punjabis.

Announcing the development, Cabinet Minister Sanjeev Arora said that Infosys has been operating in Mohali since 2017 with around 900 employees. The latest expansion, he noted, reflects Punjab’s growing reputation as an industry-friendly state. “This investment proves the Mann Government’s commitment to making Punjab an attractive hub for industries while prioritizing local talent and sustainable growth,” Arora stated.

Green and modern IT hub in Mohali

Infosys will execute the project in two phases. In the first phase, the company will build modern offices and facilities spread over 300,000 square feet, designed to earn LEED Platinum certification, the highest benchmark for eco-friendly construction. Work will begin on November 5, Gurpurab, and is expected to be completed within three years, after all regulatory approvals.

The second phase will cover an additional 480,000 square feet and is slated to begin after the successful completion of the first phase. With an estimated timeline of five years, the phased development will ensure systematic, transparent, and long-term growth.

Punjab as a northern IT hub

Once both phases are completed, Mohali is expected to emerge as a major IT and services hub for Punjab and the entire northern region of India. The project is being hailed as a milestone in bringing green, sustainable technological infrastructure to the state.

Infosys officials, including Amol Ramesh Kulkarni, Regional Head (Infrastructure), and Dr. Sameer Goyal, Head of Branch Development Centre, expressed gratitude to the Punjab Government, Invest Punjab, and GMADA for their support. They assured timely completion of the project with full cooperation.

At the press briefing, Amit Dhaka (IAS), CEO of Invest Punjab, and Seema Bansal, Vice Chairperson of Punjab Development Council, were also present, underlining the government’s strong push for industrial partnerships.

“This is not just an investment announcement—it is solid evidence of Punjab’s transformation into a progressive, self-reliant state,” officials noted. The project is being seen as another milestone in fulfilling the Mann Government’s promise of building a ‘Rangla Punjab’, where youth have global opportunities and industries find a strong foundation for growth.
