New Delhi: An X post by Mahindra Group Chairman Anand Mahindra has gone viral after he showcased the South Africa–built Mahindra Safari GameViewer, a customized open-roof safari vehicle now being used widely in African wildlife reserves.
The post highlighted Mahindra’s rising dominance in the safari mobility market and sparked a request to introduce the model in India’s leading wildlife tourism circuits.
Sharing images of the GameViewer from a Mahindra dealership in South Africa, Mahindra wrote:
“The loss in the recent Test series is still a little raw, but here’s one ‘game’ in which we’re both winning: Check out the South Africa–built Mahindra Safari GameViewer, showcased at a Mahindra dealership in SA. Today, Mahindra is the most sought-after brand in the safari segment, trusted by game reserves. A true example of ‘Made in South Africa, for South Africa.’”
The vehicle, designed specifically for off-road wildlife expeditions, features a raised open cabin, durable frame modifications, and high-visibility seating — features that have made it popular with South African safari operators.
Request to Bring the Vehicle to India
Responding to Mahindra’s post, hotelier and Postcard Hotels founder Kapil Chopra urged the company to introduce the GameViewer for Indian wildlife tourism destinations.
Chopra wrote:
“Sir, can we please get this in India for the @PostcardHotel? We are opening 4 new hotels in Kanha, Pench, Jawai and Chitwan in the next 12 months in addition to The Postcard Gir Wildlife Sanctuary and The Postcard in the Durrung Tea Estate which is close to Kaziranga. This vehicle looks so good.”
Chopra’s request reflects the growing demand for specialized safari mobility solutions in India’s booming eco-tourism market, especially in national parks including Kaziranga, Kanha, Pench, Bandhavgarh, Ranthambore, and Gir.
Growing International Presence
Mahindra vehicles have traditionally held a strong position in rugged and utility vehicle segments across global markets. The GameViewer’s popularity in South Africa reinforces the brand’s international credibility in off-road engineering and wildlife tourism logistics.
The exchange between industry leaders has sparked excitement among wildlife tour operators and adventure vehicle enthusiasts, many of whom are calling for Mahindra to launch a commercial variant in India.
With India’s luxury safari tourism expanding rapidly, a domestically available GameViewer may soon become a possibility — especially if demand continues to grow on social platforms.
