LoC Breach Foiled in Rajouri, Key Aide in Custody

Summary

A major infiltration bid near the LoC in Rajouri was foiled by the Indian Army and BSF. One suspected guide aiding the terrorists was captured with Pakistani currency and is under interrogation. The terrorists, believed to be from Jaish-e-Mohammed, fled after a failed breach attempt in Tarkundi.

SRINAGAR: In a high-stakes counter-infiltration mission, personnel from the Indian Army and the Border Security Force (BSF) jointly repelled an incursion attempt near the Line of Control in the Rajouri region of Jammu and Kashmir. One suspect, believed to be aiding the terrorists, was apprehended during the operation.

The attempted breach occurred on Sunday evening in Tarkundi, an area under the jurisdiction of the Gambhir unit of the Army’s Ace of Spades Division. The mission was launched after field intelligence suggested potential movement from across the border. In response, security was intensified along the Rajouri and Poonch stretches of the frontier.

During the operation, troops stationed at forward posts spotted a group of terrorists trying to cross into Indian territory. Swift action by the forces foiled the attempt, forcing four suspected terrorists linked to the Jaish-e-Mohammed outfit to flee. Sources indicated that at least some of the retreating terrorists may have sustained injuries after plunging into a ravine in an effort to escape.

The individual taken into custody is believed to have guided the group toward the infiltration route. According to officials, Pakistani banknotes and other critical items were found on him. He is currently being questioned by security agencies to uncover more details about the plot and its handlers.

Meanwhile, a large-scale search and containment operation remains underway in Tarkundi and adjacent sectors along the LoC, as troops continue to scan the rugged terrain for any signs of the escaped infiltrators.
