Kashmir Tulip Garden draws record 6.7 Lakh Visitors in 20 Days

SRINAGAR: A stunning floral spectacle nestled along the slopes of the Zabarwan Hills in Srinagar has drawn an extraordinary wave of visitors this season. The famed Tulip Garden—renamed in memory of Indira Gandhi—has attracted an astonishing 6,71,926 guests in just 20 days since its grand seasonal unveiling on March 26, 2025. This unprecedented turnout is the highest in the garden’s history, underscoring its place as one of India’s premier spring destinations.

 

Set against the calm expanse of Dal Lake, the garden boasts over 1.7 million blooming tulips, creating a spellbinding canvas of colors—ranging from crimson and gold to lavender, ivory, and soft rose. This visual feast has captivated tourists from near and far, turning the location into a bustling hub of seasonal footfall.

Tourism authorities have reported that this year’s Tulip Show has drawn a diverse mix of admirers: 27,810 residents from Jammu and Kashmir, 3,91,918 visitors from other parts of India, and 2,198 guests from abroad.

 

In contrast to prior seasons—where visitor counts hovered around 3.65 lakh in 2022 and 2023, and rose to 4.45 lakh in 2024—the current surge reflects a sharp and significant increase. With several days left before the bloom fades, officials anticipate the final number will surpass all expectations.

 

A senior representative from the Union Territory’s tourism division told The New Indianthat the overwhelming response signals a renewed enthusiasm for Kashmir’s scenic offerings. “The blossoming tulips have turned into one of the country’s standout spring attractions. This year’s turnout reinforces Kashmir’s image as a safe, vibrant, and naturally rich travel destination,” he noted, calling it a proud milestone for local tourism.

 

Neha Sharma, tourist from Delhi told The New Indian “I’ve seen tulip gardens abroad, but nothing compares to the breathtaking beauty here in Srinagar. The colors, the backdrop of the mountains, and the warmth of the local people make this a magical experience.”

 

Ravi Menon, another tourist from Bengaluru said “It feels like stepping into a painting—rows and rows of vibrant tulips with snow-kissed peaks in the background. What stood out even more was the genuine hospitality of the people. Kashmir truly lives up to its title of ‘Paradise on Earth’.”

 

Anna Muller a visitor from Germany told The New Indian “The garden is absolutely stunning—like a living rainbow! But what made my visit unforgettable was the kindness of the Kashmiri people. Everyone greets you with a smile, and I felt incredibly safe and welcomed throughout my trip.”

 

Sajjad Mir, dry fruit and handicrafts seller near the garden said “This season has been one of the best in years. Tourists are not only enjoying the flowers but also buying our dry fruits and handmade goods. The rush has boosted our income, and we hope this continues in the coming months too.”
