J&K Police Seize Properties Of People Helping Terrorists, Terror Acts

SRINAGAR: In a significant move, the Jammu and Kashmir Police have accorded sanction for the attachment of four residential houses and seizure of three vehicles used for providing assistance in terror activities.

The police headquarters, in different orders, accorded sanction for the attachment of four residential houses which were involved in harbouring and providing assistance to carry out terrorist activities.

Sanctions were also accorded for the seizure of three vehicles, including one two-wheeler, used for unlawful activities.

Three residential houses in the Parimpora area of the city were used for providing support to three terrorists in carrying out the attack on CRPF personnel in the nearby Lawaypora area last year in which two personnel were killed and two others injured, the Police said.

“During the investigation, it was found that three residential houses – belonging to Muhammad Yousuf Sofi, father of accused Baber Suhail, Adil Mohammad Lone and Khursheed Ahmad, father of accused Muzaffar Ahmad Mir & Rameez Ahmad Mir – were used for providing assistance to three terrorists involved in the commission of terrorist attack upon CRPF personnel deployed for ROP duties at Lawypora NHW Srinagar,” police said.

“In this terror incident, four CRPF personnel got injured and two of them succumbed to their injuries. During the investigation it was also revealed that the accused have provided shelter and all logistic support to the terrorists in their houses several times to carry out a terrorist attack,” the police said.

In another case, it was found that a house belonging to Abdul Rehman Bhat, at Darbagh in the Harwan area of the city, was used for terror activities as his son Ashiq Hussain Bhat was harbouring terrorists in it.

“In view of facts circumstances and the evidence collected during the investigation of the instant case, it has been proved that the immovable property i.e. instant residential house represents ‘Proceeds of Terrorism’,” police added.

Meanwhile, three vehicles, including an SUV, were seized in Pulwama district as they were found to have been used for carrying out terrorist activities.

“During investigations of cases registered at Police Station Ganderbal and Police Station Pulwama, it came to fore that vehicle Scorpio bearing registration number HR51AR-5070 registered in the name of Lateef Ahmad Kambay and one Piaggio Auto load carrier bearing registration No. JK13E-7129 registered in the name of Aquib Yousuf Mir, brother of accused Mohd Saleem Mir, and a TVS Scooty bearing registration No. JK13G-2726 registered in the name of accused Irshad Ahmad Malik were used for carrying out terrorist activities,” police said.

“In exercise of powers conferred by section 25 of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act, 1967, the DGP J&K has accorded sanction for attachment/seizure of the immovable/movable properties in these cases,” police said.
