NEW DELHI: The last legislative assembly session has drawn harsh criticism from Mir Junaid, the president of the Jammu and Kashmir Workers Party, who has denounced it for its persistent focus on the long-running arguments over Article 370 and 35A. In an urgent statement, Junaid called the assembly’s focus on these resolved constitutional issues a “diversion” from the urgent problems that the people of Jammu and Kashmir are facing.

“Seeing our elected officials squander valuable time on out-of-date arguments when the state is confronted with pressing issues is depressing,” Junaid said. He emphasized that the focus of the assembly should be on urgent issues including security, healthcare, education, and development. Rather, he pointed out, the assembly appears determined to resurrect long-resolved political disputes, impeding advancement.

Junaid called the assembly’s activities “political theatrics,” charging that the delegates were pursuing publicity rather than having productive conversations that would serve the populace in real ways. He underlined that the people of Jammu and Kashmir should not only receive token gestures but also significant action and advancement.

In his speech, Junaid emphasized the pressing need for capable leadership that puts the needs of the populace first. “Jammu and Kashmir’s citizens deserve better leadership that is dedicated to solving their actual issues. He declared, “It’s time to turn the attention to rebuilding our state and putting policies into place that actually improve people’s lives.”

Junaid cautioned that those who waste the people’s time and patience will be judged by history when the assembly continues its deliberations. He called on the state’s leaders to refocus their energies on measures that improve the state’s economy and citizens’ quality of life.

This most recent statement from Junaid highlights the public’s mounting dissatisfaction with political inaction on pressing concerns, underscoring the necessity of a renewed emphasis on effective governance in Jammu and Kashmir.
