PUNE: Riding on Jos Buttler’s fourth century of the season, Rajasthan Royals on Friday defeated Royal Challengers Bangalore by 7 wickets in the second Qualifier of the Indian Premier League 2022.

Chasing 158, Rajasthan got off to a brilliant start as Buttler and Yashasvi Jaiswal added 61 for the first wicket in just 5 overs. After Jaiswal was dismissed, Rajasthan captain Sanju Samson joined forces with Buttler and snuffed out all the hopes of Bangalore.

Buttler remained unbeaten on 106 off just 60 balls and reinforced his reputation as a supremely impactful player. He became only the second player after Virat Kohli (in 2016) to score four tons in an IPL season.

Earlier, Bangalore scored 157-8 in 20 overs as they put together only 35 runs in the last 5 overs. Rajat Patidar once again was the pick of the batsmen as he scored 58 off 42 balls. But Bangalore’s innings was derailed after he was ripped out. Ultimately, they had to settle for a subpar score.

Rajasthan will now look horns with Gujarat Titans in the final which will be played on Sunday, May 29.
