As India waits for the World Cup to return home, the ICC championship has seen its share of incredible moments, ranging from major upsets to inspiring fan acts through the mega-tournament held in India.

As the men in blue faced challenges during the World Cup final against Australia, Indian fans took to Twitter and other social media platforms to share their funny and honest reactions. The social media sphere was inundated with memes, providing a humorous distraction from Team India’s lackluster batting performance, despite their outstanding bowling.

One user, for instance, shared a screenshot of a text from their father that read, “Kohli out, no need to watch.”

Another user posted a video from the movie Rockstar with the caption, “Please take wickets, Team India.”

A third user capitalised on the opportunity after Steve Smith’s dismissal, sharing a video from the movie Khatta Meetha featuring Akshay Kumar and Rajpal Yadav. The caption humorously read, “Pat Cummins welcoming Steven Smith.”

Amid team India fans praying fervently for wickets, there was a collective belief in Rohit Sharma’s captaincy to lead India to victory. Expressing this sentiment, one user urged, “Will India bowl out the Australian team? Believe in Rohit Sharma’s captaincy. Travis Head, get out quickly, brother; India will win the match.”

A fifth user playfully teased Virat Kohli’s affectionate gestures towards his wife, Bollywood actress Anushka Sharma. The user posted a picture of Aussies Players  with text that humorously stated, “No one will give a flying kiss to anyone on the ground while we are around.”

In the final held between India and Australia, India has set a target of 241 for the Kangaroos. If the Australian team succeeds and achieves this score, it will mark their sixth World Cup title.
