New Delhi: India’s National Security Advisor (NSA) emphasized the need for united efforts to combat terrorism during the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) meeting in Beijing on Monday.

Highlighting India’s ancient principle of Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam (the world is one family), the NSA reaffirmed India’s commitment to working with SCO nations for shared prosperity. However, he expressed deep concern over the persistent threat posed by UN-designated terror groups such as Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT), Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM), Al Qaeda, and ISIS.

Referring to the April 22 terror attack in Pahalgam, Jammu & Kashmir, where 26 Indian and Nepalese nationals were killed by The Resistance Front (TRF), a proxy of LeT, the NSA stated that India’s Operation Sindoor was a measured response to dismantle terror infrastructure. He urged SCO members to reject double standards in counter-terrorism and take decisive action against UN-proscribed terrorists and their networks.

India called for accountability against perpetrators, financiers, and sponsors of cross-border terrorism, labeling such acts as crimes against humanity. The NSA also sought support for India’s proposals, including a joint algorithm to counter international terror groups, measures to tackle radicalization, and a coordinated information operation to combat extremist ideologies. The remarks underscored India’s push for stronger regional cooperation against terrorism.
