Relations between Canadian PM Trudeau and Indian PM Modi are at an all time low owing to the accusations that are being flinged across the board

NEW DELHI: Upping the ante against Ottawa, New Delhi on Wednesday cautioned Indians to exercise “utmost caution” in Canada where it said the “security situation” was “deteriorating” fast amid “politically-condoned anti-India sentiments”. India and Canada are engaged in a nasty diplomatic tussle after PM Justin Trudeau accused Indian hands behind the June killing of a Khalistani leader.

The advisory has also been directed to address Indian nationals and students residing in the country, to practice extreme caution during their stay. “In view of growing anti-India and politically-condoned hate crimes and criminal violence in Canada, all Indian nationals there and those contemplating travel are urged to exercise extreme caution,” the advisory said.

Indian students and citizens have also been advised to register themselves with the High Commission in Ottawa, or Consulate Generals of India in Toronto and Vacouver, through their respective websites. The said Indian citizens have also been provided with an alternative to apply on the MADAD portal, concerning consular services.

This directive comes after the murder of Khalistani activist Hardeep Singh Nijjar, Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau had accused the PM Narendra Modi-led government of having orchestrated the killing, creating aspersions on the “safety” of Canada’s citizens. The Indian government had earlier raised numerous concerns with Trudeau regarding the growing influence of anti-India Khalistani activities in Canada.

As of now, Indian government has asked the Canadian ambassador to leave the country within five days.
