Caught on camera: MP woman brutally beaten up for rejecting marriage proposal

A barbaric incident of cruelty against a woman came to light in Madhya Pradesh’s Rewa district, where a man mercilessly beat a 19-year-old woman allegedly for rejecting his marriage proposal.

The incident came to light after a disturbing video of the incident went viral on social media. The man was identified as 24-year-old Pankaj Tripathi, who was later arrested in Uttar Pradesh after initially fleeing the scene.

Meanwhile, taking strong action against the accused, the CM Shivraj Singh Chouhan-led government ordered the demolition of his illegal house by a bulldozer.

The incident occurred on Wednesday, according to the police, and the accused was initially detained for disrupting public peace before being released under Section 151.

“Both man and woman were in contact for more than one year, the boy used to ask her for marriage, but the woman’s family members were not ready for the decision. On the day of the incident, the woman rejected the marriage proposal. After that, the man got furious and brutally beat her until she fell unconscious,” said the police.

“After the incident, the man escaped from the scene. The police, however, nabbed him from Uttar Pradesh,” the officer added.

The video was taken during a conversation between a man and a woman. The man requested that the person filming the video stop filming for 2 minutes. He then smacked the woman and slammed her head to the ground, dropping the bag he was carrying.

Police have arrested the person who shot the video, are further investigating the case and are searching for the accused.

According to the information, the woman later went to the police station to report the incident, but she stated that she would not press charges against him.

Following the release of the video, the police filed a case against the man under Section 323 of the Indian Penal Code and other relevant provisions.

In response to the woman’s complaint, authorities have filed a case against the person who shot the video and shared it.

“We are helpless and poor. My daughter is being treated in the hospital. I have three daughters and one son, the accused was harassing my daughter and forcing her to marry him,” the victim’s mother said.
